The Super Falcons coach has announced his final squad of 21 players for the African Women Championship slated to hold from October 11-25 in Namibia

Nigeria will take 21 players to the 2014 African Women Championship in Namibia which starts on October 11. Six overseas-based and 15 home-based players made the final Super Falcons' list for the eight-country competition that will end on October 25. The squad is composed of three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders and six strikers. As expected, France-based Desire Oparanozie topped the list of six foreign based stars that also include veteran Perpetua Nkwocha, Onome Ebi, Ohale Osinachi, Esther Sunday and Francesca Ordega. Super Falcons' skipper Evelyn Nwabuoku and 2014 Fifa U2 Women World Cup best player Asisat Oshoala led the league of home-based players that scaled through. Others who made the final cut are Ngozi Ebere, Ugo Njoku, Josephine Chukwunonye, Gloria Ofoegbu, Nku Cecilia, Halimat Ayinde, Onyinyechi Ohadugha and Christy Ohiariaku. Ghana plans to export electricity to Nigeria

Ghanaian president John Mahama, said that there are plans by his govt to start exporting electricity generated in Ghana to Nigeria and other West African countries. He said this while speaking at the Global Business and Economic Forum in Dubai yesterday October 1st, "We have given priority to electricity generation in our country. We have prioritized energy in such a way that we want to become the hub for power production in West Africa. We want to generate electricity to the point that excess power can be exported to Nigeria, Ivory Coast and other countries that have power deficit,” he said. He said to achieve this, his country secured export-import financing from China and also got special funds from Abu Dhabi to commence series of power generation projects. He added that development of a third hydropower dam was already at an advanced stage in Ghana.

Former MD of News Agency of Nigeria, Mrs Oluremi Oyo, dies at 62

Former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN and first female President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mrs Oluremi Oyo has died. She died yesterday October 1st at a hospital in London. Her husband, Mr Vincent Oyo confirmed her death this morning. Mrs Oyo had been battling with cancer for a while. Born in 1952, Mrs Oyo served as the Senior Special Assistant to President Olusegun Obasanjo for media and publicity from 2003 to 2007, the first woman to be appointed to such a position. She was appointed in 2007 as the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria. She's survived by her husband, children and grandchildren. May her soul rest in peace Amen

NDLEA nab smugglers who hid N119m worth of drugs in perfume bottles Officials of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested two suspected drug smugglers, Marvin Daniel and Victor Akubuo (pictured above) for smuggling N119m worth of illegal substances that tested positive for cocaine. The drugs were concealed inside perfume bottles and capacitors. The suspects flew from Dubai into Lagos with the illegal substances and were arrested after a screening of their luggage at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos. While one of the suspects, Daniel hid 7.58 kg of the drugs in capacitors, Akubuo concealed his, weighing 5.75kg, inside perfume bottles. When interrogated, Daniel who is 29 years old from Abia state, said he was in search for a business breakthrough when he was introduced to the drug peddling business...
